I only downloaded this because it was free, but I was pleasantly surprised!
The story begins with the local community practically falling over themselves for King (the lead male character), all hoping Maura (the lead female) will sign the contract to let a film crew use her farm as a location. Maura eventually signs the contract, and the two main characters end up in bed...
However, after a trip to the doctor with flu-like symptoms, Maura is told she is pregnant. Within very little time, the whole community knows too. Maura is unable to get a message to King, and after months of trying to contact him, she gives up. The community, offended on behalf of Maura, proceed to make life miserable for the film crew when they arrive.
King arrives in Ireland to a frosty reception, and various insults that sound cryptic to him - with many doors being slammed in his face, and he's no idea why the little community that couldn't do enough for him when he was scouting a location suddenly hates him.
After being appraised of the situation by Maura, King later proposes, to be turned down. Much more of the book revolves around King's attempts to get Maura to marry him - which she keeps refusing.
The end does have a happily ever after - but it doesn't come about how you'd expect it to.
Overall, a lovely little story - and, of course, excellent value at £0!
