Ideal for most British weddings,
By A Customer
This review is from: Wedding Speeches and Toasts (Paperback)
Very good for identifying what is expected from each speech and giving ideas as to the content, ideal if you don't do this for a living. The humour, as pointed out by another review, is very witty and sometimes requires the audience to think a little (rather than having the punch line always spelt out to them). Ideal for most British weddings and any other wedding where the audience can think.

Take from it what you will,
This review is from: Wedding Speeches and Toasts (Paperback)
This book really helped me to write a very well recieved best man's speech. It's great for setting out a framework, so all you need do is fill in the gaps. There's lots of handy hints for rehearsal and delivery. There are sections giving examples of quotations and jokes which are pretty lame and without them the book would still be complete.

"If I had a match I could put it out of its misery",
By A Customer
This review is from: Wedding Speeches and Toasts (Paperback)
This book isn't just irrelevant to US weddings, its irrelevant to UK weddings. The speech ideas make me cringe with embarrassment. The jokes are lame. The quotes are weak. I am sure the author has good intentions, but I would be the laughing stock of my friends if I "used" any of her speech ideas in my forthcoming best man speech. As the great Muppet Sax player Zoot once said: "If I had a match I could put it out of its misery". And if I could award 0 stars I would ask if I could award minus one.
