Book Description

12 Mar 2009

Sarah Stratford is a wedding planner hiding a rather inconvenient truth - she doesn't believe in love. Or not for herself, anyway. But as the confetti flutters away on the June breeze of yet another successful wedding she somehow finds herself agreeing to organise two more, on the same day and only two months away.

Luckily Sarah has two tried and tested friends on hand to help her. Elsa, an accomplished dress designer who likes to keep a very low profile, and Bron, a multi-talented hairdresser who lives with her unreconstructed boyfriend and who'd like to go solo in more ways than one.

As the big day draws near, all three women find that patience is definitely a virtue in the marriage game. And as all their working hours are spent preparing for the weddings of the year, they certainly haven't got any time to even think about love. Or have they?

5.0 out of 5 stars Light 'n breezy 19 Jun 2008
Format:Hardcover
WEDDING SEASON IS THE perfect summer read, or perfect read for anytime of the year. I rank this right up there with THIS CHARMING MAN and THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES. This is story of Sarah, Bron, and Elsa who seem to have the knack of pulling off the perfect weddings and organizing everything . . . but their own lives. The contrast between their Swiss-watch perfection in making other's dreams come true, and the funny events that ruin and run their own lives is refreshing and somehow real-life-like. The dialogue is great and the characters are three dimensional. What was the one thing I didn't like about WEDDING SEASON? I couldn't put it down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Katie Fforde at her sparkling best 4 Jun 2008
By Damaskcat HALL OF FAME TOP 50 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is one of Katie Fforde's best books in my opinion. I have been slightly disappointed with her last few but this has all the wit and sparkle of her early books. Sarah, Bron and Elsa all work together to make weddings perfect for other people. Their own love lives are harder to organise. The background is excellent with lots of information about all the things which go into making the perfect wedding and what can go wrong at the last minute
A feel good romp with brilliant dialogue. There is a better balance between dialogue and description with this book than there has been in previous books from this author. I absolutely loved it and was sad to finish it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wedding planning for dummies! 17 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
I've been a great fan of Katie fforde: her dry humour, everyday women in situations not unlike those of my own or my friends, and they've given a light, relaxing read. Unfortunately, this one doesn't work for me. There is far too much detail about how wedding planning companies work and I have the impression that in her desperation to meet a publishers' deadline Katie fforde just put down loads of the research she'd done for the book. There's almost none of the humour which made her books special. Maybe I've just read too many but it was all so predictable.
