I've never really been into dieting but was starting to look bulky - with a wedding coming up it wasn't ideal. This book isn't a fad diet - it is about losing the weight and keeping it off. It starts with some horror stories about people who crash dieted in the weeks running up to their wedding. This really gets you in the mood! the basis is eating healthily and reducing your calorie intake. It gives an easy plan to follow with food types and exercises. You are not restricted in what you eat or what exercise you do so it is truly flexible. It takes discipline - but if you want to lose the weight this should motivate you enough(keep looking at all the skinny girls in the wedding magazines). It is a long term diet (2 or 3 lbs a week) and if you start early enough lapses (like Christmas)can be overcome.

The Wedding Dress Diet tells you everything you need to know and do to look great on your big day. It covers a range of topics from the dress style that will suit your figure to exercise to achieve that figure. I found the maximize / minimise section of the book very useful, the author pin points areas on the body, you're asked to mark them according to whether they are assets or liabilities, she then goes on to tell you how to hide or accentuate these areas. It even gives tips on what to eat and drink on your hen night. The book doesn't leave you at the altar either, there are plenty of tips to keep your new found figure on honeymoon and well into your married life. Well worth a read.

Motivating, but nothing we didn't already know 9 May 2000
By Mom of Three - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This book is motivating for any bride-to-be as it provides practical tips and realistic goals for weightloss. However, don't be fooled by the title...it does not provide an actual diet. Basically the book just inspires you to eat anything with moderation and to exercise. That is something experts have been recommending for decades. In essence, nothing new is established. You're better off buying a bride magazine.

How to make yours a more-perfect union 25 Feb 2000
By wayne carlson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Authors Robyn Flipse and Jacqueline Shannon have written a book that's loaded with great information for brides-to-be and others interesting in shedding some pounds on a deadline in a sensible way. I bought "The Wedding Dress Diet" for a bride-to-be who wanted to lose "exctly 18 pounds to get down to my fighting weight of 112." She read the book, loved it, and reported yesterday she was right on schedule to attain her goal. Now, here's the surprise: before giving my friend her gift, I read it myself. I started flipping some pages in the bookstore to get a sampling, and soon got hooked. When I got home, I read the whole darn thing. It's brilliantly organized, very well written and liberally sprinkled with humor. The nutritional and exercise tips and the advice on reducing stress can be used by men as well as women -- whether or not they're headed for the altar. Here's a handful of rice tossed in the direction of Flipse and Shannon.
