Amazon.co.uk Review

Best known as a comedian, Stella’s Michael Ian Black makes his directorial debut with Wedding Daze. In the prologue, Anderson (Jason Biggs) dresses up as Cupid and proposes to his perfect girlfriend, who promptly keels over. A year later, he's still in mourning. Meanwhile, Katie (Isla Fisher) is also seeing a seemingly flawless fellow, and though her mother (Joanna Gleason) pressures her to accept his proposal, Katie has her doubts. The next day, she meets the unemployed Anderson at the diner where she works. On a dare, he asks her to marry him. Not only does she accept--she moves in with him. They make for an odd couple, but not as odd as their parents: Katie's stepfather (Matt Malloy) is a Jewish inventor, while her birth father (Joe Pantoliano) is a Buddhist convict; Anderson's parents (Margo Martindale and Edward Herrmann), on the other hand, are very happily married (suggestive words send them into a sexual frenzy). Clearly, Anderson and Katie's differing backgrounds create a momentary stumbling block, but their breakup lasts as long as their courtship--blink and you'll miss it. Denied a US theatrical release, Wedding Daze is a rough-around-the-edges, if sweet-natured romp. At the very least, it's superior to other wedding-orientated comedies of the time, like the crass License to Wed. There are a few unnecessary gross-out gags, but an appealing cast--including Rob Corddry as a good-natured deputy--distract from the more awkward moments. --Kathleen C. Fennessy, Amazon.com

Jason Biggs is back as the unlucky in love, and life, character we all know and love him for.

Whilst similar to the likes of American Pie and Wedding Crashers it does have it's own unique quirks and I found myself glued to the screen.

The fact that these two strangers decide to get married as soon as they meet makes this one hell of a roller coaster ride. Not short of a few hick ups (in true Biggs style) the couple embark not only on getting married but actually getting to know each other. All this combined with the convicted father of the bride, circus freak friends and the visions of a dead girlfriend, this is sure to have you laughing from beginning to end.

Ignore the bad press. Being compared with the blockbuster that is 'American Pie' this film never really had a chance with the media. But believe me this is quite possibly the funniest film of the year.

Cited as a mix between Wedding Crashers and American Pie, I knew I had to give this film a spin. After all, what's wrong with a little idiotic comedy every now and again? I'd read the synopsis and guessed from the off this was going to be some wacky film! I suppose it goes without saying, given it stars the nutty Jason Biggs?

Anyway, I watched this with an open mind hoping for some belly laughs. The film begins with Anderson (Biggs) dressing up as Cupid to meet his girlfriend in a posh restaurant and propose to her. He even goes so far as to rub baby oil into his skin (*shudder*). On reading the love of his life a poem which culminates in the proposal, he waits with baited breath for a reply, but all he gets is to see his beloved drawing her last breath and keeling over on the floor.

A year later and Anderson is still horribly depressed over the death of his fiancee - though technically she never said yes. Anderson's best friend Ted is at his wit's end and takes the harsh approach, telling him to "get over it." Unfortunately, Anderson takes this advice a little too literally and proposes to the next girl he lays eyes on - Katie, the pretty waitress in the cafe they're in! Even more shocking, she says yes.

What follows next is a crazy attempt for the couple to get to know each other, do the whole "meeting the parents" thing and then actually get married! There are several hiccups on the way, mainly involving Katie's jailbird father escaping to give his little girl away and causing all kinds of havoc.

Overall, this wasn't a bad film. This is probably because I've seen so many films in the same strain, but it did seem to me to be a huge mixture of lots of other films. But to be honest, it wasn't as funny as I was expecting. It raised a couple of titters, but I doubt anyone is going to be rolling in the aisles. So it's pretty mediocre - worth a watch, but isn't going to win any points for originality.

Awful
This went from looking like a really good film, to daft in an amusing way to absolutely absurd. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone over about 16!
