I bought this book after reading about it in a couple of wedding magazines. I got engaged on Valentines Day and have done nothing because it is all so scary and I was getting really worried as both our mothers keeps telling us we have to hurry up and set the date. But the author really makes you feel that she is your friend and that it is important you get what you want and not what other people tell you you have to do. She has lots and lots of tips that I've not heard anywhere else. There are a lot of really lovely photos from real weddings too and it is nice to see real brides rather than just the perfect ones in magazines. I feel far less daunted at the prospect of planning my wedding and the book really does live up to the promise on the cover that it is "everything you need to know whatever your budget". I read it cover to cover and could not put it down. It's so good I'm ordereing a copy for my Mum (in the hope that she reads the bits about avoiding family arguments!). We've already been able to start working out a budget, there are some great tips if you don't have much money (which we don't!). I have found it really useful to work out what needs doing and there are things I had no idea about. It has checklists and doesn't frighten you into thinking you need to get everything done staight away. It's very funny in places too and far less patronising than other wedding books I've looked at. There are lots of wedding people quoted in it who give really good advice and I like that you get more than one point of view. I even found my fiancé reading it in the bathroom! Do not pick a best man either til you've read this book....
I really cannot recommend it highly enough for anyone who is getting married. It's a lovely book just to look at too and with great ideas. It takes the fear factor out of wedding planning and is certainly the best and most beautiful wedding book I've seen!

I'm NOT the Bride. I'm the friend of the Groom and sympathetic ear to the Bride!
I had to step in and do something as it was clear the Groom was doing nothing, and over the past 10 years of our friendship I can happily conclude that he would have carried on doing nothing if action wasn't taken. So, I bought this book as a belated Engagement present to save the Brides sanity and to give the Groom a good kick up the backside.
As a result, the Groom has now woken up to the fact that there is plenty to be getting on with even if they do have 12 months before the wedding. The Brides sanity is saved.
For the Bride she has found this invaluable as it's helped her with wedding etiquette and planning, and of course getting the Groom to make some decisions before the BIG day. It's fantastically illustrated, beautifully presented and insightfully written. The Author REALLY does know what she is writing about.
I can therefore say with confidence that this is a very good buy, so good in fact that I have bought two copies and I can imagine I will be buying many more in the future as more of my friends get married. It's a life line for all future Brides and Grooms.

I work in the wedding industry and I think this book is superb, it is full of all the useful information that anyone planning a wedding needs to know, whether you are on a budget or planning a lavish do you will find this book incredibly useful. The book is divided into sections so it is easy to refer to as you plan each stage of the wedding and offers up useful tips that the author has obviously gathered from those in the know. The book also looks beautiful and is full of stunning full page photographs. This would make a wonderful gift for anyone who has just got engaged.
