This product is firstly very easy to install and secondly, extremely effective. It can be used alongside your already standing Anti-Virus software so the two do not clash and both can function as normal. For me this is a huge plus as I have used spy-sweepers in the past and it has always resulted in problems because of the fact that I have had an anti-virus installed.
This spy sweeper is extremely effective and managers to scan your computer relatively quickly and finds all, if any, problems then categorises them for you so you understand what risk they had. Don't worry, nothing difficult to understand, it is all presented in a very easily digestible way. It then promptly deals with the problems for you by placing them in quarantine where they can do no further harm. The only reason it doesn't promptly delete them is in case they are integral to the function of something...it is up to the user to make the decision.
If that wasn't enough it updates itself automatically, blocks spyware, adware, Trojans, rootkits and keyloggers. It also stops pop-ups, fake alerts and browser hijackings. It prevents attacks on social networking sites and scans files to ensure safe downloading from the internet.
It is simply great. Does the job and does it well.

I installed this product on to my Vista Home equipped laptop. I already have McAfee virus suite installed and the products seem to run fine together. The installation process was straightforward and ran with no hitches. Then I registered and upgraded the product online. The upgrade was a 30 Mb download. The product then swept my computer for spyware and adware. This took about 45 minutes but I guess would depend on what you have installed.
It found 35 cookies and 4 traces of spyware. Not sure what these were but allowed the software to quarrantine them as was recommended with no ill effects to my computer. There have been a few pop-ups about software trying to modify the registry and so on - which is fairly normal for this type of software, and these get less frequent the longer you use it.
The computer itself is running just as fast as before, and I have had no conflicts or problems. And I am now protected from thousands of potential spyware and adware problems along with the protection already afforded by my anti-virus software.
It is a pity we need this software - but this package seems to be very comprehensive and stable. Recommended.

The purpose of Spy Sweeper is to remove the various harmful, prying or nuisance gremlins that download themselves onto a PC without the user being aware. It also aims to remove cookies that have an ulterior motive as opposed to those that assist with the functionality of web pages (e.g. helping a web page to recognise you).
Installation was straightforward and reasonably quick and I did not identify any problems during this process with Vista or any conflicts with my anti-virus software.
I did come across some problems when I ran the programme for the scheduled scans and so far my PC has ground to a total halt on three separate occasions, requiring a hard reboot to restart. However, I was trying to use the PC whilst the software was running and suspect this was the cause. The instructions suggest the scan is scheduled to run whilst the PC is switched on but not in use and, when I left the programme to run whilst I did something else, it completed without any glitches (but took over two hours). If you have an older PC, you may find the software rather resource hungry.
I have now run several full system scans and the software highlighted 70-100 `bad' cookies were on my PC each time. The cookies were identified as being low risk but it felt nice to have removed them. However, it puzzled me that they reappeared almost as soon as they had been removed and I am unsure as to how effective the software is at prevention rather than cure.
Gremlins can burrow into PCs and cause mischief and although most anti-virus software should protect against serious damage, Spy Sweeper does provide an extra layer of protection, particularly against nuisance gremlins. If you value knowing that your PC is clean, or are of a nervous disposition, this software may be for you. However, it may be less than ideal for older machines due to resource requirements and is an extra rather than an essential. In this respect, bear in mind that this provides a years protection and requires renewal.

Consider getting this even if you already have anti-vurus
