A great choice,

This review is from: Weber 47cm One-Touch Original BBQ
Purchased after years using a cheap BBQ, what a difference! The main advantages I see over a cheap BBQ: - Ventilated from the bottom, the airflow helps the charcoal burn - Charcoal sits on a grate, which allows the air to get all around the charcoal - Lid and instructions help you cook over indirect heat (charcoal near the sides, food in the middle, lid on) - Good standard of construction (wheels feel slightly wobbly but seem well secured, I have no concerns that they will fall off / break) Indirect cooking method allows some great "real" cooking, I cooked a whole chicken, using the Weber Apple Wood Chips 3lbs (1 handful soaked in water for 1 hour beforehand, bags seem good value considering the amount required) which gave a lovely smokey flavour without being too smokey. Assembly is reasonably easy, there are quite a few bits, and its packaged in a surprisingly small box. Size wise the 47cm is good and will allow you to cook a good amount of food at one time, indirect cooking does decrease the available space though, but there is room to cook a medium sized chicken easily with some space left over. Some tips: - If cooking a whole chicken or chicken on the bone, get a cheapish digital probe thermometer to give yourself the confidence to stop the cooking while you meat is still nice and moist, rather than paranoid and dry. - Do try some wood chips for some nice smokey flavour, but go easy, you can't take it away once its added! - The wood does add colour to the outside of the meat and may make you concerned its cooking too quickly, don't be tempted to keep lifting the lid, you'll waste heat everytime you do. - I bought the weber chimney starter also, seems to work very well needing only newspaper to get the briquettes going to glowing red hot in a short space of time with no intervention.
