I'm Gin Blanco.
You might know me as the Spider, the most feared assassin in the South. I’m retired now, but trouble still has a way of finding me. Like the other day when two punks tried to rob my popular barbecue joint, the Pork Pit. Then there was the barrage of gunfire on the restaurant. Only, for once, those kill shots weren’t aimed at me. They were meant for Violet Fox. Ever since I agreed to help Violet and her grandfather protect their property from an evil coalmining tycoon, I’m beginning to wonder if I’m really retired. So is Detective Donovan Caine. The only honest cop in Ashland is having a real hard time reconciling his attraction to me with his Boy Scout mentality. And I can barely keep my hands off his sexy body. What can I say? I’m a Stone elemental with a little Ice magic thrown in, but my heart isn’t made of solid rock. Luckily, Gin Blanco always gets her man . . . dead or alive.
Jennifer currently writes the Elemental Assassin urban fantasy series for Pocket Books. The star of the series is Gin Blanco, an assassin who can control the elements of ice and stone when she’s not too busy running her barbecue restaurant, the Pork Pit. Jennifer is also the author of the Bigtime paranormal romance books, which feature sexy superheroes, evil ubervillains, and smart, sassy gals looking for love. Titles in the

"Elemental Assassin" series book 2,
By
This review is from: Web of Lies: An Elemental Assassin Book (Mass Market Paperback)
Page one of this book starts with an action packed scene, and is quickly followed by another, another, and another. Gin may be retired from the assassination business, yet boredom and curiosity can quickly get you involved in situations where you kill or you end up dead. Perhaps Gin shouldn't press charges against a youngster with sadistic urges and a powerful, well connected father. Perhaps she should just turn a blind eye to a young woman targeted for a brutal death. Perhaps she shouldn't come out of retirement to help a few people who require her special skills, but then we wouldn't have the explosive plot lines found in "Web of Lies".The second book in this fabulous (and highly recommended) urban fantasy series is even grittier, fast paced and entertaining than book 1 "Spider's Bite". JE's world of vampires, giants, dwarves and Elementals living amongst humans is brutal, dark and deeply corrupt; a vividly drawn setting which our heroine Gin is more than comfortable in. Gin continues to intrigue, as do her relationships with Finn, Sophia, Jo-Jo, and particularly honest detective Donovan Caine, plus there is a possible new love interest who unlike Caine, is able to accept Gin and all the skills she utilises. I believe this author will be revealing more details of Gin's tragic family history in book 3 "Venom", which is thankfully due for publication in just a couple of months.

This review is from: Web of Lies: An Elemental Assassin Book (Mass Market Paperback)
Gin Blanco is back. She's no longer working as the famous assassin Spider and now runs the barbecue joint the Pork Pit. Life is a bit boring without concentrating on her former job so Gin is actually excited when two guys try to rob her. Stopping them is no problem but when it turns out that the father of one of the guy's is a famous lawyer with connections to the most powerful and cruel woman in town Gin fears that there will be trouble. And when the next day Gin manages to rescue a young women named Violet from being killed, she knows that it's time to come back from retirement and do two more jobs.Meanwhile her relationship with Detective Donovan Caine doesn't seem to have a chance because of who she is. Will Gin be able to help the girl against an overwhelming enemy and will there be a new development in her private life? The second book in a series is very important for me. After reading it I normally decide if I want to continue with a series or not. So I was excited and a bit anxious to see if "Web of Lies" would be as fantastic as "Spider's Bite. And I'm happy to say that it is as great and fascinating, so I will definitely go on with reading the Elemental Assassin series. I enjoyed Jennifer Estep's writing style a lot. It's engaging and I forgot time when reading "Web of Lies". The way she wrote the story made it a joy to read about Gin, Finn and the others. Reading the book was never a struggle for me and I was suprised by how fast I managed to read it. "Web of Lies" made me stay up late and I was always excited to read on. The book contains just like "Spider's Bite" the perfect mix of action, funny, erneast and sexy scenes. I loved learning more about Gin because IMO she is an amazing woman. She's strong, honest, cares about the people close to her and is willing to do what others shy away from. She has become one of my favourite characters and I care about what happens to her. I was suprised by the way the relationship between Gin and Detective Caine changed but in the end it felt right to me and I guess what happened is for the best. I enjoyed learning more about Gin's past and can't wait to read more about her magical abilities. I'm also excited to see what will happen in Gin's private life and especially with her sister. cover Great cover. It's strong, a bit mysterious and conveys a good feeling for the story. final appraisal A great and thrilling book that makes me excited to read more about Gin and the other characters. The story never got boring and I enjoyed every page of this book. Jennifer Estep has created a fascinating world full of unique characters that casted a spell over me.

Go Blanco.......,

This review is from: Web of Lies: An Elemental Assassin Book (Mass Market Paperback)
This is the second of the Elemental Assassin series, the plot has already been covered really well, so I will say you must read this series if you are into supernatural UF fist fights, a strong supporting feisty crew with attitude, with an emotionally complex & damn good action filled storyline, then this is for you. I love the Mab Monroe character a worthy adversary for future books, JE is an author to look out for.My only gripe is the detective I found him incredibly whiny & a coward, Gin's too good for him really, I really hoped she'd top him already. I suggest you read Spider's Bite (Elemental Assassin) first. The third book in the series is called Venom: An Elemental Assassin Book theres a teaser at the end of Web of Lies...
