Format: Paperback
I opened this book and immediately fell in love with it. The book takes you down the fashionable memory lane from 1920's through to the 1980's.

I have been into the shop that the authors Jo Waterhouse and Clare Bridge run in Worcester, Secondhand Rose and this book is full of the enthusiasm and vitality that the shop is known for.

In the introduction, Jo and Clare state that they wanted to create a book that 'will guide you through affordable, collectible and wearable items that you can own too, whatever your budget' and I think that this book fulfils that aim confidently. They go on to say that they have picked out key pieces from each decade - recognising the trends and looking at both day and night wear alongside with those very important accessories that finish any item off perfectly.

The book has lots of photographs - be they photos of clothes from the decade, photographs from the time, or photographs of modern women wearing authentic clothes.

The book is split into seven decades: 1920s; 1930s; 1940s; 1950s; 1960s; 1970s; and 1980s. Each decade has its own colour coded section which includes day wear, key pieces, get the look, icons (and how to recreate their style), a look book of key pieces for both day and night wear. At the start of each chapter there is a short introduction highlighting the main fashions of the decade.

The book concludes with a chapter featuring lots of different people wearing vintage clothes and making their own style using them - there are people from all over the world featuring in this chapter, of all shapes and sizes showing vintage suits anyone!

I really enjoyed looking through this book. The sections were well planned out with most of the page content being photographs.

"Wearable Vintage Fashion" is more than simply a funny book which helps you recreate the look of a decade; the authors' expertise and passion in sharing their knowledge of everyday fashion from the 20s to the 80s and beyond makes it a gold mine for anyone desirous to learn more about vintage clothes, the style of specific decades, it is a short introduction to fashion in the 20th century. Its clear design makes it easy to navigate and pleasant to look at. It is an ideal present to fashion and nostalgia fans!

I've got a wedding to go to where the dress code is Vintage. I was feeling a little intermidated. I bought this book and it was great inspiration. Really easy to flick through. I've finally found put together an outfit based on some of the ideas.

If you like ogling vintage fashion of the 20th Century this is the book for you. It's written from the authors' perspective of running a UK vintage shop and its clean magazine style layout allows the clothes to speak for themselves. This has more photos of clothing and accessories than in most other vintage books. The book looks at the 1920s to the 1980s and presents outfit examples for day/eve/work/leisure etc. Each chapter has a 'Get the Look' section where family photos from the eras are used as inspiration and guides to recreate outfits, there's a fun, tongue-in-cheek 'Icon' section that serves as a costume party outfit guide, and a 'look book' section showcasing more items from each decade in a magazine format that will be familiar to most. It's an interesting, modern way of presenting vintage fashion. The final section is of 'vintage street fashion' where vintage bloggers and lovers have contributed their photos as examples of the different ways vintage is worn today. This book is a breath of fresh air in the genre- the authors' fun approach to vintage show's they don't take themselves too seriously but it's obvious they have serious knowledge and passion for the subject matter.
