After a day of indulgence and a night of dreaming the @mbassadors awake, unglued from the looking-glass, the now of reflection. They exsist beyond the curve of light, are infinte shadows of themselves, transcendent in space and time. Like dusk and dawn, the sun at night, a thousand artists of the dead stand sentinel. A third says: "Je suis Jarry Anti-Dieu," and continues, "I am Alfred Jarry born on the feast of theNativity of the Holy Virgin...I am the keeper of the looking-glass gateway between Anti God and God, the substance of the void-light. Now that you are transcendent of your bodies I charge you to take the 'anti-grail' upon the Earth and become the Heralds of Twenty-First Century Chaos Culture. The grail waters are polluted and only the anti-grail can contain them."
We passed through the waters and the looking-glass

I came across "We Love You" when googling for "Big Bottom" via "Band of Susans". The track listing named several of my favourite artists, and who wouldn't want to hear Sam Taylor-Wood singing "Je t'aime... moi non plus" at least once? Or Tracey Emin produced by Boy George?

"We Love You" comes in a slip case 20cm by 25cm, filled by the booklet I'd expected to be the size of the cd. It's beautifully presented but on the whole self-indulgent nonsense, albeit with its tongue in its cheek. Some of the images are pornographic- one of the quotations on the slip case reads '"Technically pornographic, and if convicted carries a prison sentence"-Davenport Lyons, solicitors'; is this true or as invented as the references to Einstein and Samuel Beckett? In either case, not a suitable present for a minor.

As to the music, it's not anything I'd want played at my funeral, some of the artists seem to think that constant swearing conveys sincerity rather than inarticulacy, and the sound is very much of its time (late 1990s). But but but, there are some worthwhile moments among chaff, for instance Gavin Turk's rendition of "My way", perhaps my third-favourite version.

I purchased this for the CD compilation, but the book is also quite interesting, both in design and in content.
