A Sparkling Rebirth 23 Jun 2010
By The Wolf TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
Sia Furler is a very special singer, songwriter and performer.
Her penchent for dressing up in luminous stage outfits lives on
in the wonderfully quirky cover art of her splendid new album
'We Are Born'. Her 2008 release 'Some People Have Real Problems'
remains a firm favorite in The Wolf Cave (Mrs Wolf is an especially
big fan!) and gets an airing at least once a week.

The project contains thirteen new tracks and is perhaps her most
immediately accessible work to have appeared in the listening
world so-far. The sunny pop ambience which producer Greg Kurstin
weaves in and around the polished melodies suits her well, which in
no way implies that there has been a diminuition in Ms Furler's
wonderfully left-of-centre presence, or her capacity to light up the
sky with her distinctively soulful warble. A voice in a million!
(Listen to 'Be Good To Me' for immediate elucidation of her peerless
ability to communicate the heart and spirit of a fine song).

Cheerleader territory is not more than the length of a football pitch
away with the infectious handclaps and "Wo Wo Wo" vocal intrusions of
'Bring Night'. The spirit of the eighties is alive and well in songs like
'Clap Your Hands', 'Hurting Me Now' and 'The Co-Dependent', all cracking
tunes which Ms Furler brings to life with perky and quirky aplomb.

Madonna gets a nod and a wink with our heroine's nifty cover of
'Oh Father' from the 1989 album 'Like A Prayer'. It is a terrific
interpretation of a truly splendid composition, sung with real feeling.

My money's on 'I'm In Here', however, as the album's emotional axis.
Co-written with Samuel Dixon it holds one of the loveliest and strongest
vocal performances of her recording career. Simply beautiful.

'We Are Born' is packed full of elusive treasures as well
as bucket loads of mainstream appeal. Ms Furler is a unique
artist who fully deserves both our affection and applause.

Highly Recommended.

Wonderful album 10 Jun 2011
Format:Audio CD
My husband and I are always amazed that Sia isn't more widely known. She has a terrific voice, very unique. We first heard her on Zero 7's album "The Garden" and she's a vocalist on Hed Kandi tracks too. This album is really sunny, upbeat, easy to sing along to and great to play in the car on a long journey. We love it.

Bought this after discovering Sia on the Twilight soundtrack album, with her song "My Love" and looked into her other albums. As this album is so great I've since purchased her second "Some people have real problems" and have also got the song "Breathe me" from her first album. My favourite songs are "Bring Night", "Big girl, little girl" and "I'm in here". Sia's voice is so incredible and unique. These tunes are so catchy, they stick in your head for ages. I really want her to come to the UK! Keep bringing us great music, Sia!
