Book Description

14 Nov 2004 Book & CD
All Aboard! This rhythmic I-spy journey to school through various landscapes is the perfect introduction to colours, modes of transport, and of course, music! The jaunty text, Siobhan Bell's colourful hand-stitched illustrations and the accompanying musical CD by popular singer Fred Penner are sure to get children singing along happily. The I-Spy theme encourages reader/listener interaction, while the cumulative, repetitive text helps build sequencing skills. We All Go Travelling By is ideal for read-aloud and music and movement activities.

Product Description

Review

'This I-Spy song is the perfect car soundtrack. The words are simple and repetitive, and the tune is rhythmic. The I-Spy theme also encourages children to interact. Listen to this with or without the book, though the fabric illustrations enhance the song.' --BBC Parenting

'A yellow school bus goes beep beep beep. A bright red truck goes rumble rumble rumble. A little green boat goes chug-a-lug-a-lug. A long blue train goes chuff chuff chuff. More modes of transport are added on each page as children make their way to school in a double I spy and You can Hear observation game. Great for reading aloud to tinies, this also comes with a free sing-along CD, but what made this one attractive for us were the beautiful hand- stitched illustrations by Siobhan Bell.' --Cork Evening Echo

'Cycle campaigners seeking to encourage transport planners and engineers to recognize cycling as a mainstream form of transport could do worse than to send a copy of We All Go Travelling to each and every one of them... A wonderful patchwork of colour and fun, it comes with a fun and strangely addictive sing-along CD.' --London Cyclist Magazine

About the Author

British author Sheena Roberts grew up in a small village in Scotland and now lives and works in London. Her early experience of Scottish folk music gave her a love for children's songs and she has worked in children's educational music publishing throughout her career. When her own children were young she ran baby music groups to share the songs she knew with other babies, parents and carers. This led to a number of publications in the Playsongs baby music series. Siobhan grew up in Somerset and after leaving school, travelled for many years. She has lived in many different places all over the world including Ireland and Spain. Siobhan's previous jobs include making and selling jewellery and clothing, fire breathing, busking and waitressing. Siobhan returned to Somerset three years ago where she lives with her young son. She began selling her pictures and artwork five years ago and now works as a full time textile artist, selling through various galleries. Siobhan exhibits her art and also works on private commissions.

5.0 out of 5 stars so catchy - the children love it 15 May 2008
By Mrs. C. J. Cubbon VINE VOICE
Format:Paperback
I have used this book in my music classes and everyone loves it - a nice text with sounds to make and the song.......it goes round and round in your head. It has been sung enthusiastically by many hundreds of children...."and we all go travelling by bye bye, and we all go travelling by!" I had 8 soundmakers to go with it to match the vehicles (and shoes) and the pictures are really charming too. This book really appeals to young children, on their level, lots to look at. Top marks!

I thought that the website said that this was a book with the CD. It has the CD pocket, but was empty. The book is great, but I am disappointed to not have the CD. I'd like to contact the original company, but am not sure how....
