Personally I would not have picked this book out off a shelf. But once I had started to read it I really enjoyed it.David Almond has created a feeling of suspence and mystery in the atmosphere. And as you read the book it feels like you are being watched. The book is about a boy called Kit who moves to Stoneybrook with his parents and Grandfather. When the grandad was a boy he used to live there so there is a lot of history involved in the story. John Ashew is another main character who run a gang of people and everyday they go out on the hill to play a game called Death. John Ashew loves drawing and where they play this game there are pictures of people dying and of bones in piles. This book is well worth a read. It is aimed at children in Primary school
