3.0 out of 5 stars Whet's the appetite 14 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A good prequel and appetizer for this series of books which I am looking forward to reading. My assumption is we have been introduced to the main characters so it will be interesting to see how they develop.

3.0 out of 5 stars more prologue than prequel 28 Oct 2013
By J. Gunnar Grey - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I read the first book in this series, Call of the Herald (Godsland Series: Book One), some years back, but not enough stands out in my memory for this little prelude to relate. (Except for the big cavern and underground lake; those I remember.) This is more a prologue than a standalone story, and there's not really enough here to draw me back into the series right now, with so many other books in the TBR pile. Except for the author's good, solid writing; even with a few added or missing words here and there, it's comfortable reading. If you're looking for a new fantasy series, a long one that can hold onto you for a while, you might give this novella and the first book a try; they're both free.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wayward Spirits - A Golsland short story 5 Mar 2013

I first have to say that I ATE UP this series, and loved all of Rathbone's writing. This is a prequil to the main story, and it was very fun to learn more about the history of Godsland.and how Kenward and Benjin started the Downing of power series.

3.0 out of 5 stars Short read, could have had a lot to say. 6 May 2014

It was as well read as the rest of the series. It hinted at the voyage ahead, then just dropped off. I was disappointed that it could have turned into a full length book if not two.
