I read the first book in this series, Call of the Herald (Godsland Series: Book One), some years back, but not enough stands out in my memory for this little prelude to relate. (Except for the big cavern and underground lake; those I remember.) This is more a prologue than a standalone story, and there's not really enough here to draw me back into the series right now, with so many other books in the TBR pile. Except for the author's good, solid writing; even with a few added or missing words here and there, it's comfortable reading. If you're looking for a new fantasy series, a long one that can hold onto you for a while, you might give this novella and the first book a try; they're both free.
