About the Author
Patience Thomson has 30 years experience of teaching children with reading difficulties. She was formerly principal of Fairley House School, London, and co-founder of Barrington Stoke Ltd, a publisher specialising in books for reluctant, struggling, and dyslexic readers. She also co-wrote 'Dyslexia: A Multidisciplinary Approach'. She lives in Oxfordshire.

101 ways to get your child to read is a useful reminder of lots of common sense and suggestions school have made to assist my child with reading. There are useful references for further organisations that can help and suggested reading lists, plus what to look for in selecting books.

This is a short, but useful, guide to helping your child with reading. The only thing I would say is that it is more to do with children who are experiencing problems with reading, than generally encouraging reading in children. That said, if you do have a child who is having problems at school, this could point you in the direction of where to get help.
