5.0 out of 5 stars This book is working for me 2 Dec 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have no instinct whatsoever when it comes to promoting my own pony novels. I simply felt lost and discouraged. I tried things that didn't work (including starting bloggs and deleting them). I read other similar books but didn't gel with any. But this book really helped me to promote in ways that I felt good about. It's full of tips and clear instructions with a good balance of concise detail. The Table of Contents is excellent. Most importantly, I'm becoming more connected to my public and selling more books. I can see tangible results from my marketing - and this has given me the confidence to look for more ways of get myself out there, supported by this book. Thank you Gary

I bought this to help promote my novel The Agnatum (An Action Adventure Novel) using social media. I found the book helpful, as I am fairly new to using twitter etc. The writing is clear and easy to follow. Definitely worth a look.

4.0 out of 5 stars An essential read for authors 29 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a no-nonsense whistle-stop tour of how to use the social media (mainly) to promote your book. The author has done a brilliant job here with a nut and bolts introduction and description of the various ways you can maximise what is available online and largely free (apart from your time) to market your book. You may know all about Twitter, YouTube, Google 1+, Facebook etc but, if you are like me, you probably don't know 70% of how you can fully maximise their potential in this regard. This book tells you how to; the rest is up to you to make it happen. Excellent work.

2.0 out of 5 stars No thanks... 5 Jun 2012
By S. Canfield - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
The author has another book that is almost the exact same book, except in this edition, he added "for your book" to most of the descriptions of the tips. Some of the tips don't even make sense for book marketing. "Allow people to check-in on Facebook." How in the world are people going "check-in" to my book. It makes no sense, and proves how careless the author was in transferring the information from his first book to this book... some of the tips just don't make sense for books.

This book needs a proofreader or editor for sure. There are missing words, typos, and other grammatical errors that just make it annoying to read. I know the author is trying to make money, but please do your readers a favor and proofread your book or ask someone else to.

A decent book if you have zero-exposure to social media and you can ignore the errors and useless tips in the book. If you already have Facebook and Twitter exposure, choose a different book because this one isn't worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Compilation 17 Mar 2013

I appreciate what the author has done, but in all due fairness the information contained in this book is really available through searches on the internet. I guess the idea is to put it all in one place and save us the time searching. On that note, this is a good book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of good ideas 23 May 2012

I have written one novel, placed it in Amazon Kindle Select, and gotten a whole 2 loans and around eighty sales. Not at all what I expected, so any help is appreciated.

Andrew MacCarthy's book definitely gives the new writer ideas that s/he may not have thought about before. I know it did for me.

As an author of multiple novels Lodestone (Witch-Hunt)I'm keen to find ways to promote my stories and find readers. This book overflows with tips and strategies. I also bought -500 ways Social Media,by the same auther, these two books are almost identical so I recommend buying only one or the other.
