4.0 out of 5 stars simple guide 15 Aug. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I found this book to be well written and very helpful in regard to planning.

There are no separate chapters, just an intro, followed the 51 tips, and then a brief overview. The advice is always sensible and there are lots of websites listed by the author. All in all, this is one of the better ebooks on wedding planning.

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars 51 Ways to Save Money & Still Have a Fabulous & Chic Wedding! by Laura Pepper Wu 29 Oct. 2011
By C. Stone - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
There are a million articles and posts out there on how to save money on your big day. Some have great information... and some don't. That's why I'm a fan of Laura Pepper Wu's new e-book, 51 Ways to Save Money & Still Have a Fabulous & Chic Wedding! (AND, it's only $0.99! LESS THAN A DOLLAR!).
I was eager to dig in and see if Laura had any good tips for tastefully (and successfully) throwing an affordable wedding.

And boy, did she deliver! Some of the 51 tips are ones that you've heard before - for example, "Tip #14: Cut out the Flower Middlemen." But Laura gives this "been there, heard that" tip a nice twist by including online wholesale floral resources and suggesting that you have some flowers done professionally and the rest DIY. Talk about really thinking the process through!

I was also happy with some of Laura's other tips as I had not considered some of them before OR they were ones that I've recommended but aren't so well known. For example, Tip #7 talked about buying a suit for the groom instead of renting. And Tip #22 suggested skipping the cake topper if your cake is already a showstopper. So simple and yet so cost-saving and practical!

I think that one of my very favorite parts of Laura's e-book where the impressive number of online resources that she shared. Talk about cutting out the legwork! She even included websites for DIYing your own wedding invitations and for finding wedding specific coupons! Wedding specific coupons! Who knew?
So, if you want a chic and fabulous wedding, and still enter marriage with enough money to enjoy newly wed life, then this guide is for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read! 26 July 2012
By xkrissio - Published on Amazon.com

There are so many magazines, books, articles, on how to save money for your big day but nothing comes close to this! Everything is organized into it's own section, and gives you great ideas! Unlike articles in magazines were you are actually reading something Laura wrote this in a way that you feel like you are talking to one of your best friends about a wedding. Its an easy read that is short, sweet, and to the point! It has great idea's(ex: don't forget some people might not have email so send post cards!), its very sophisticated and gives you the reassurance that you need for you big day (ex: don't compare your wedding to other people!) I highly recommend this to any bride to be. I love the fact that Laura tells you about her three weddings throughout the book, and also gives you links to websites that will help you out! Awesome book.

Admit it, weddings can be extremely expensive. For the discerning eye, cutting costs without compromising quality and enjoyment is prime. This book is perfect for my friend's eye as she puts to use the practical suggestions the book offers.

5.0 out of 5 stars USEFUL wedding tips - now there's a novel idea! 20 April 2012
By alimacbride - Published on Amazon.com

The title says, "51 Ways" but it feels like Pepper crammed in about three times that amount into this handy little book! I read this when my wedding was 3 months off, and I think the thing that stood out most was what Pepper says at the start - to avoid constant comparison to other weddings. This is especially hard with the "wedding porn" on the internet, particularly with the advent of Pinterest. I found myself looking at all the amazing possibilities, and being deflated about what was possible with *my* budget. Which was tiny.

Reading this book really helped bring me back down to the ground and made me realise what's most important on the day to ME, and that's going to differ for everyone. The best bit was knowing that no matter what's most important, it can still be done tastefully and to our own style and preferences without breaking the bank. One example from this book: dresses. I'm only having 2 bridesmaids, but I took the author's tip and told them each to wear their favourite dress in our colours (to match my fiance's clan tartan). That gave them endless options, doesn't make everything overly-matchy-matchy, and yet still will all tie together. And the bottom line is everyone is happy with that!

Definitely will recommend this (and already have!) to anyone I know getting married. The links are great, though unfortunately as I'm in the UK, and most of them are U.S.-specific, some of the vendors and things weren't applicable to me but it was the ideas that encouraged me. But you can't go wrong with Pepper's knowledge of this area - she organised not one but THREE weddings of her own (her husband and she had a separate celebration on three different continents), so this woman definitely has the experience in budgeting with style!! I made notes throughout and highlighted lots of links to check, which are laid out in a very organised and succinct manner.

Anyone planning a wedding, whether you have 2 years or 6 months, pick this book up!! You won't regret it!
