5 of 5 people found the following review helpful By Ian Devlin on 28 Feb 2007
I first heard this song on MTV Flux and was literally hypnotized and stunned by the haunting, ethereal ambiance Jamie has managed to create with "Wayfaring Stranger". Captivating harmonized vocals underlay an exceptional solo voice piece (which is performed in such a way as to invoke that 'hairs on the back of the neck' effect). Seriously enchanting stuff. I love this song already (Johnny Cash's version is also excellent) however, I have to say Jamie's version is my favourite. It is dripping with emotion and spiritual longing, and hearing this track not only focuses and calms the soul, but also dusts it off a little too.

Jamie Woon has created a very, very important version of an old favourite. You are denying yourself a considerable amount of pleasure if you do not add it to your collection.

Everyone should buy this to hear an exceptional new talent. If Wayfaring Stranger impresses you, you should hear the live version where Jamie performs the 'whole' thing on his own with the help of a loop machine, on which he records each part one at a time. Impressive or what?! Jamie is versatile and no two tracks are the same.

Saw this guy play on a windy Bexhill seafront and he was totally brilliant. Real star.

I am old so be gentle with me youngsters - but I did enjoy this track....dubstep I believe is the curious term sometimes applied to this species of sound...a good voice delivers a spooky version of a fine old song, for me it really works. I'd love to hear a similar approach to old blues, gospel and country songs...good on him. Album soon I believe, does anyone else still use the term ''album' ?

anyway time for some warm milk and a sensible early night.
