Product Description

Jessie Campbell loves baseball, but he's terrified of the ball. Though he can make great running catches, if a ball is hit right at him, he'll duck out of the way. And forget about batting. When he and his best friend, Ryder Gonzalez, are abducted by space aliens, the boys learn that the aliens want Ryder to play in the huge Intergalactic Over the Line Tournament. Jessie is only along for the ride. He soon learns, however, that this won't be a simple spectator sport. He'll need to deal with horrors such as space pirates, and, even worse, actually participating on the field. With the help of Ryder, his alien teammates, a cute girl from another planet, and even Mickey Martell, the best baseball player in the Universe, Jessie must learn to push away his fears and focus on learning how to better play the game--both mentally and physically.

And if all of that wasn't enough pressure, there's also whisperings that he may be the fabled Chosen One, destined to bring the championship to his team.

A Home Run! 29 Sep 2011
By Jason Sullivan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Have you had enough of alien abductions that involve unpleasant experiments? Do you like baseball? If so, perhaps Way Over the Line is for you. This book is a ton of fun. Two best friends, Ryder and Jessie, are abducted by some very cool aliens who want them to join their baseball team. Jessie loves baseball. There is just one problem-he is afraid of the ball!

There is never a dull moment in this middle readers book as Jessie and Ryder prepare for the Over the Line tournament and explore their new "alien" surroundings. Ryder and the very cool aliens know that Jessie has the ability to be a great player and that they need him to win. First, however, they must help him get over his fear of the ball. Jessie also gets some encouragment from a cute alien girl named Aurrie. Unfortunately, some nasty repitilian space pirates also know about Jessie's potential and they are less than supportive. You won't want to miss a pitch in this fast-paced story as the last game approaches and the suspense builds.

Eric J. Krause brings the excitement of baseball to life. You will feel as if you are in the batter's box swinging at a fastball or out in the field with a line drive bearing down on you. He also captures with humor and insight the fun, and the insecurities, of being a kid. Way Over the Line will leave a smile on your face. It is nice to know that some aliens just want to play baseball!

Space Aliens, Baseball, and First Crush 17 Aug 2011
By Shelli Proffitt Howells - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition
Eric Krause captures this age of adolescence perfectly. He starts with a great, well-developed main character who sees himself as less than ordinary. He follows up with an alien abduction unlike those you read about in The Enquirer. Here, the aliens have taken Jessie and his best friend Ryder to help them win an intergalactic over the line tournament. Jessie believes the aliens are more interested in Ryder and his baseball skills, not knowing that it is really his destiny to be the hero and help his team win. Hm, space aliens and baseball? What more could a middle grade boy want from a book? Danger, intrigue, and of course a first crush rounds out the delightful plot of this book. Eric hits all the right notes for his target audience. It is a fun read for kids and also adults. Note: I did not receive a free copy of this book, nor was I asked to review it for the author. I really did like it this much!
