I am a great fan of Ensemble Unicorn for their lively and exciting recordings of early music. The themed approach is very useful to the non-specialist, and they seem to be able to find a much wider stylistic range of music than the standard single voice lamenting to a stringed instrument which prevails in many recordings

This disc is particularly exciting, it has a wide emotional range from irresistible rythms to the most poignant yearning. The listener is transported to the travails and excitments of the most important Medieaval pilgrimage.

My only wish is that the songs were translated (early bulgarian is beyond me!)
