Product Description

Product Description

First published in December 2001, Brooklyn-born Wax Poetics hit newsstands with a new vision for music journalism. Wax Poetics created a bridge between the old and the new, revealing the numerous connections between musical forefathers and musical future. Although originally created for a concentrated market of music afficionados, the Wax Poetics audience has grown exponentially, making music anthropologists out of average music listeners. This anthology gathers the first five issues into a deluxe must-have hardbound edition.

The record collector's guide to hipness 23 Oct 2009
By F. S. Gitler - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I picked this up a few weeks ago, and have to say I've been floored by the content. I've been a subscriber to the terrific WP magazine for only about a year now, and this Anthology helped me to catch up with some of what I'd missed. It starts with amazing interviews with the biggest named in Funk/Soul/Jazz drumming--the men who's drumming has built the core of the sampling culture that followed their generations work. Further articles delve into Hip-hop and Dub Reggae. Since all this may inspire you to increase your own collection of delicious vinyl, they even have a DIY article on building record shelves.

Essential reading for lovers of old-school Hip-hop, Funky Jazz, Funk, or music in general.

interezante 12 May 2008
By Leonard Mattioli - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Un libro que responde al espiritu de la revista, impulsando esa visión de la música que no se termina en el marketing, sino comprendiendola como un fenomeno sociologico complejo.
