A gorgeously illustrated, wordless story of a little girl encountering a great big wave. Absolutely charming!

My 2yo daughter loves this book... and so do her parents :). I've already bought 3 copies to offer. Like the preview reviewer mentioned, it's a pity that this book is not properly assembled. The Portuguese version (well... they only had to translate the title, as the book has no text inside) suffers from the same problem, the spreads are just cut in half at the binding with no respect for the illustration.

4.0 out of 5 stars Careless publishers 11 July 2009
This is a beautifully illustrated book with a lovely (wordless) story. The author/illustrator (Suzi Lee) deserves high praise indeed. One of my favorite picture books.
HOWEVER, the publishers have done their best to ruin it. Every picture crosses over two open pages and the publishers have carelessly slapped the pictures on with no regard for them lining up at the join. So the story (which depends entirely on the images) shows half seagulls, girls and waves throughout - all thanks to the thoughtless lazyness of the publishers (chronicle books, San Francisco).
A real pity.
If it is re-printed properly I will certainly buy copies for friends too.
