I have had one of these and like many people it refuses to hold a charge after about 6 months. Now it wont even hold enough power to do your teeth once. great product if it continued to work as it should

I had one of these and thought it wonderful. However after a couple of months the thing went dead. The battery refused to hold a charge and was rendered useless. Before replacing I sought other reviews and found this to be a general problem with the product.DON'T buy until the battery is re designed

Similar to other reviewers here I've purchased waterpik and was very satisfied initially. However, it lasted only 5 months as the battery when flat and waterpik was useless after that!

I've had it for six months and now the battery is refusing to charge. It's a shame because I loved it when it was working.

Here's an update to my review. I'd kept the receipt and got an exchange at Argos. It's a great product when it's working but FOR GOD'S SAKE, KEEP THE RECEIPT!

I suppose, in a way, it's better that products conk out while they're under warranty rather than slightly after the warranty expires (my kettle just died after one year and 22 days =) ) but it would clearly be better yet if Waterpiks were built to last.

If the only problem is the battery I'm considering buying one of those Waterpiks from America like the WP-100 that don't have batteries and just plug into the mains (once I figure out what type of converter I would need to get it to run off the mains in the UK I mean.)

Despite reading some early critical reviews regarding poor battery life I decided to give the Waterpik a try. Functionally it does everything it claims on the box and it beats old school flossing any day of the week. Unfortunately, within a couple of months, and despite a disciplined charging regime suitable even for the poorest Ni-Cad battery technology, the Waterpik failed to charge after around 3 months use. This is like buying a car that you can only refuel 5 times and totally unacceptable. From extensive research on the internet it would seem that Waterpik have completely failed to address this issue and as such don't deserve a penny of your hard earned cash. I urge you to steer clear of this product and research alternatives.

For anyone thinking of buying this product, there are a few things you must do to prolong the life of the unit.
1.Charge it for the manufacturers recommended time (I think it's 16 hours)
2.Before re-charging (i.e. once the water pressure begins to drop to a point that makes it ineffective)remove the tip and ensure there is some water in the unit. Switch on,and leave until the battery is completely drained. You can leave it buzzing away in the sink or bath until it completely runs out of power.
3.ENSURE IT IS SWITCHED TO OFF, and charge again for the full 16 hours.
If you do this it will prolong the life of the unit. I know, as I'm on my second unit.

Unfortunately that is one of the problems with this irrigator. If you have gum problems and need to use it twice a day, every now and then you have to miss a clean while the unit charges.

Would I buy again --- No

Mine stopped charging or showing any signs of life after only 2 months! I bought it online from a reliable source but it was past 'return to shop date', obviously still under warranty.
However, the only access to warranty was an email address, saying to provide the details of purchase. Send several emails, never got any response. Wouldn't deal with Waterpik again.

The most unreliable thing I have ever bought. I've had three so far. All have failed in a few months. It's American - 'nuff said.
