Product Description

A new Head Teacher, Michael Byrne, has arrived at Waterloo Road having survived a brutal stabbing incident, possibly from a former pupil. However, all that s behind him now, as he embraces a new assignment with colleagues old and new. Waiting to greet him in a lukewarm fashion are Waterloo Road s core staff, Tom, Grantly and Chalky. Invited back to teach music and drama, is old friend Matt Wilding. New faces include Michael s secret weapon, Linda Radleigh; as well as married couple Jeremy Jez Diamond, football star turned PE teacher, and Sian Diamond, whose history with Michael is an education in itself. It s a testing time for Michael with ongoing threats from his young attacker, undeniable embers of mutual attraction lingering between him and Sian, not to mention a one night stand that fi nds him open to even greater risk. New students include Phoenix and Harley Taylor, Zack and Madi Diamond, as well as Tariq and his sister Trudi Siddiqui, while stepping up the ranks comes the unlikely pairing of Emily James and Jodi Scout Allen. Finn can t stay away from new girl Trudi a partnership Tariq cannot square with his faith; and Vicki and Ronan, now living together, could be heading spectacularly for the rocks, as the relationship comes under insurmountable strain. Along with parent evenings, school orchestras, student prize-giving and a live radio broadcast from the heart of the school, it feels like there s a ticking time-bomb at every turn with the fuse lit day one. Welcome to Waterloo Road, and fasten your seatbelts for the ride of a lifetime.

I felt I must post a quick review to inform buyers that this release contains 10 episodes each roughly 58 minutes in length, the first time we've had uncut full length episodes since the Series 4 DVD release (Series 5, 6, and the Autumn release of Series 7 all had cut episodes shortened to around 49 minutes). It feels great to have the full episodes once again like the older releases (previously and next time segments are still missing, and the usual music edits have been made) but this DVD release of Waterloo Road Series 7 Sprint term is the best release since Series 4 so I fully recommend a purchase. Finally story lines make sense and develop as episodes are uncut and characters like Grantly get full screen time. Great release, though some additional extras would have been appreciated but I'm not going to argue with 10 hours worth of episodes.

5.0 out of 5 stars All change but still a great series 27 Mar 2012

Waterloo Road is the prime example of British drama at its best, and this series was no exception. All the familiar faces you'd want to see are still there, along with some new faces, who merge with the 'old guard' perfectly. Jaye Jacobs fits in well as the likeable new science teacher Sian, and new pupils Phoenix and Harley Taylor give life to the current line-up of students.
My main aim in this review, however, is to sing the praises of Alec Newman, who plays new Headteacher Michael Byrne to perfection. Coming in as a new Head after the very popular Karen Fisher was never going to be easy, especially as Mr Byrne doesn't exactly make life easy for himself in these beginning few episodes, but Mr Newman's performance kept me hooked throughout this new series, and I can't wait for the rest of series 7, and the very exciting sounding series 8! Good work everyone on Waterloo Road!
