Dreadful stuff 5 July 2011
By Sparse Grey Hackle - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I can't get through it.

Any book on waterfowling that starts with a two page explination by the author of why he is the most highly regarded and most widely read authority that ever lived is off on the wrong foot.

Then it goes badly from there.

Being a Scot only scots are the true sportsmen, any others need game laws to govern them, but not Scots they are the only honorable waterfowlers ever created. Well anyone that hunts with an 8 gauge and takes 70 yard shots is not a sportsman or a wildfowler in my book, and he does both.

As I plowed through it it became clear that only his dogs are the world beaters and no better dogs have ever been seen in modern ages, only his guns and manner of hunting is the artful way.

He spends his time in the marsh composing letters on politics and is obviosuly one of these stuffed shirts that you must routinely and regularly stroke his ego by clapping him on the back and declaring that he hs the finest gun, the finest dogs, the best liquo and finest ability with all the above.

The moment you stop proclaiming him the best of the best, you will find yourself without an invitation to his hunting club.

The last thing we need in today's age of "buy a duck" and wild consumerism is for more young hunters and neophytes to be shunned by windbags like this guy and forced into the Cabelas mindset of 'spend more get more game'.

I recall my brothers and I meeting a fella launching his duckboat along ours one morning and he was wearing an odd little bright red pin, my brother passing time remarked, ' very nice pin there, where did you get it?' and the stuffed shirt replied with his nose in the air, " attend Harvard" ...what a jerk. What fool shows up duck hunting wearing his school pin? Who had a school pin??
I don't regret shoving him in the marsh and I don't regret telling you to shove this stuffed shirt author into the muck too.
