Product Description
A superb collection of waterfowling and wildfowling tales from a well known waterfowler. It covers duck hunting and goose shooting in Britain, America and Canada and deserves a place at every goose and duck hunter's bedside. Second enlarged edition.
From the Author
Wildfowling is the pursuit of wild fowl in wild places. As a shooting sport it is unique in that success depends more upon the wildfowler's knowledge of the habits and habitat of his quarry than upon his marksmanship skills. It is, however, more than just a sport. For those of us who have responded to the call of a wild estuary, fowling can become a way of life, a consuming passion which leads us relentlessly to seek a better understanding of the birds which inhabit the land and water beyond the tideline.

But, of course, wildfowling is about much more than ducks and geese; more, even, than wild marshes on wild mornings. It brings with it a need to know about guns and dogs and weather. It encourages an appreciation of the entire natural world and, of course, it provides the essential escape from the pressures of 21st century living.
It is now over 40 years since I first took down a gun and set off for the marsh and 30 since I began writing about my experiences. I have been privileged that, in addition to my books, a number of very prestigious magazines have seen fit to publish my scribblings. Shooting Times, Sporting Gun, Sporting Shooter, Shooting & Conservation, The Field, Countryman's Weekly and Wildfowling Magazine are but a few of the periodicals that have spread my work. I was also retained for a number of years to contribute to the Nature Man column in the Sunday Post, a Scottish newspaper that at one time was reckoned to reach a higher proportion of its potential readership base than any other newspaper in the world except Pravda in the old Soviet Union!
This anthology of articles is drawn from a wide range of original publications and covers the spectrum of the waterfowler's world. Enjoy.
