Product Description

"The Winsor & Newton Guide to Colour Mixing: Watercolour" takes the uncertainty out of colour mixing for artists. Organised around the primary colours, with an additional section on neutrals and flesh tints, the book presents a gallery of precise colour mixes to enable an artist to recreate what is on the page in their palette and on their work of art.

Mixing Watercolours. 26 Nov 2007
Format:Spiral-bound
If you are trying to mix watercolours and the colour is not quite right so you add a little bit more colour ending up with a lovely mud colour, this Winsor & Newton book is for you. The 25 main colours used from the Winsor & Newton Artists' Watercolurs gives 2400 two-colour mixes. With only mixing two colours you get the cleanest and brightest tints possible, this makes it easy to match the shade you want to reproduce. The colurs included in many Winsor & Newton pre-selected painting boxes are featured in the 25 main colours used.
Overall, excellent book, great value for money, I wish I had bought it when I first started painting. I would have probally saved myself a lot of money on buying colours I probally will have little use of.
Please note: The book does state that all mixes are made with Winsor & Newton colours; colours by other manufacturers will give varying results.

I bought this for my wife. She is very pleased with it because she uses Winsor & Newton paint and finds that it has become much easier to achieve exact colour matches - sometimes using paint combinations she would never dream of trying for herself. She thinks it is a brilliant book.

A pocket size - easy to carry around. Easy to understand at a quick glance. It displays the ratio (ie 60%/40%) of the two colours used when mixing a new colour. No more guessing for me. However, I would love to see more colours in this book as many colours are not included in my palette but I still recommend it to any reluctant buyers.
