Product Description

Review

"...the book is written for an interdisciplinary audience and is an introductory text directed at undergraduates, but it would serve as a starting point for anyone new to the field or for practitioners requiring a fresh view. This second edition builds strongly on the first, but it has been restructured, making the content more accessible and logically arranged. A valuable section on the Water Framework Directive has ben added, as has a closing chapter on "Sustainable principles in water management"
The Times Higher, December 2005 --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I used this book, on recommendation by a lecturer, for my module on Water and Wastewater Treatment. It was great, it had information on everything I wanted to know... but navigating the index was a nightmare. You'd think the index, being in alphabetical order, wouldn't be a problem. But then there are sub-sections, and the sub-sections have sub-sections, and what's written in these sub-sections are not found anywhere else in the index. So if you want to look up something specific, you have to look it up under whatever sub-heading you think it might be related to and chances are, that's not how they've organised it in the book. I spent more time reading the index than I did any other part.

A very technical book. But then it should be, it was recommended by lecturers and peers. Used it for my MSc in Water Quality and Treatment. Still use it to this day, good background reading too.
