Book Description

27 July 2010 Sisters of the Heart; Sea Haven (Book 1)

For Lev Prakenskii, the last thing he remembers is being lost in the swirling currents of the ocean and sucked deeper into the nothingness of a freezing black eddy off the coastal town of Sea Haven. Just as quickly, just as miraculously, he was saved - pulled ashore by a beautiful stranger - but Lev has no memory of who he was - or why he seems to possess the violent instincts of a trained killer. All he knows is that he fears for his life, and the life of his unexpected saviour.

Her name is Rikki, a sea-urchin diver in the small town of Sea Haven. She always felt an affinity for the ocean and the seductive pull of the tides - and now, for the enigmatic man she rescued. But soon they will be bound by something even stronger - each other's tantalising secrets that will engulf them both in a whirlpool of dizzying passion and inescapable danger.

4.0 out of 5 stars "Sisters of the Heart" series book 1 31 July 2010
By Book Addict TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
"Water Bound" is an offshoot of CF's 7 book "Drake Sisters" series and continues with a similar theme of a group of women with magical abilities. Yet these new 6 women are not sisters, instead they are bound by their love and loyalty to each other. Having met at a counselling session, each has survived a brutal past and each has been drawn to and found peace in Sea Haven.

In "Water Bound" it is only leading lady Rikki's past and talents which are fully explored, but more will be learnt of her "heart sisters" Blythe, Judith, Airiana, Lissa and Lexi in later books. Water elemental Rikki is still deeply traumatised by her past and now danger has followed her to Sea Haven and threatens her home and loved ones. Luckily she's recently fished a Russian assassin out of the sea and he's hell-bent on protecting her.

CF certainly takes a brave stand by making her heroine autistic. I cannot comment if this is accurately portrayed as I have no experience with autism, but Rikki is realistically frustrated as she faces personal challenges in the real world which other people wouldn't give a seconds thought to. Yet it felt at times that Rikki's autism was played down or intensified to suit the plot line. No one is allowed to enter her home and she feels compelled to clean any surface someone may have touched, yet her love interest Lev quickly makes himself entirely too comfortable in her home. She has a rigid routine she has to religiously follow and becomes somewhat agitated if this is interfered with, but faces any unknown danger without hesitation. Although CF portrays her as extremely socially awkward, Rikki is able to interact with her "heart sisters" and Lev closely and holds conversations with other people she doesn't know very well.

3.0 out of 5 stars A bit nondescript 6 Aug 2010
Format:Paperback
In the Drake sister series the novels all had fast running plots which kept the reader enthralled. This book took a while to get going as the majority of it was set with Lev recouperating and therefore lacked a little of the usual drama and racing story lines. When it did get going it was ok, but overall I kind of felt like the usual amount of planning hadn't gone in to this book. The characters however were endearing and they were well depicted. I loved the Drake sisters, but found this a little lacking. Saying that I will still read the next when it comes out...Blythe's story I am guessing!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sea Haven if you were missing it is BACK! 30 Oct 2010
Format:Paperback
Water Bound is another installment into Sea Haven that was started with the fantastic Drake Sisters. If , like me you were devastated when the series ended will relish this trip back to the place that bought it all to life.

This book i hope is first in a series of books concerning another set of women who have
astounding abilities. They are not family , just women that have come together through past adversities that they are trying to overcome and live a semi-structured lives.

Rikki is someone who likes order, structure and routine. She does not like anyone getting too close for fear of hurting them. When she recuses Lev Prakenskii, (lost younger brother to Ilya from Drake sister novels) her life is turned upside down. All she really wants to do is dump him with one of her "sisters" and get back to normal, but he affects her more than she'd like. But the question is who is in more danger from WHOM?

This book will make you desperate for more!

4.0 out of 5 stars Magical life in Sea Haven continues 1 Aug 2010
By stripeyunited VINE™ VOICE
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
I can't be the only one who pricked up their ears with interest and anticipation on learning that Ilya Prakenskii was the youngest of seven brothers... So I was delighted that Christine Feehan has not abandoned the magical world of Sea Haven when reading the synopsis for Water Bound (Sea Haven Novel). Even more excited when I realised that we are indeed going to follow up on Ilya's brothers.

True to form, danger surrounds our hero and heroine from the get-go. Rikki, a high-functioning autist sea urchin diver, has an incredibly strong affinity for water. The one place where she feels complete and in control is when she's diving, or otherwise interacting with water. She's made her home in Sea Haven with her five 'sisters of the heart', carefully fashioning a life that enables her to function as part of a family, but retain control of her environment.

Rikki chooses to go diving on a day when pretty much the whole of Sea Haven are attending a wedding (as this picks up where Hidden Currents (Drake Sisters) leaves off, those familiar with the Drake Sisters series will know what that's all about). She is swept from her boat by a rogue wave, and spots a man in the water, who is clearly not there by choice.

Lev Prakenskii is a killing machine, but has no memory of how he ended up in the water, and memories he cannot fully fit together about who he is. All he knows is that the woman who rescues him from the water is more of a lifeline to him than he ever anticipated. Somehow this hunky closed-off alpha male realises that he can unlock his heart and his identity for a special woman.
