by Tammy La Gorce

The View -- a Scottish quartet comprised of bassist Kieran Webster, lead guitarist Pete Reilly, lead singer Kyle Falconer, and drummer Steve Morrison -- came together in the band's native Dundee (near Scotland's east coast) in 2005, before any of the bandmates had entered their early twenties. Prior to storming the U.K. with their energetic, scruffy ska-punk and throwback rock,… Read more in Amazon's The View Store

5.0 out of 5 stars A smouldering debut single, 1 Sep 2006

NME have been praising this Dundee four-piece for quite a while now and so, on a whim, I bought this, their first single and it is absolutely fantastic! Some bands do not live up to the hype however in this case, the hype has not lived up to the band!

The title track is a bouncy sing-a-long, full of youthful exuberance and even a slight hint of melancholly. The accompanying track, 'Posh Boys', is a more raucous event, delivered with more fire and urgency than the one before. Track three is a live recording of Comin' Down (which first appeared on their debut EP) and is more like the track that preceeds it than 'Wasted Little DJs'; it's heart seems to belong more to 70s punk than 60s pop.

If this single is a hint at things to come, then we should all be very excited indeed. With songwriting and performances as strong as this, The View deserve to be huge. It's been said before and I'll say it again:

THE VIEW...

THE VIEW...

THE VIEW ARE ON FIRE!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Definition of Indie, 14 Dec 2006

The View much like the Holloways are definatly going to be the bands that carry the genre of indie forward, after the split of the libs we were left with few bands that statisfied are tatse buds but the view have come along way to fill that vacancy. This is a great record along with superstar tradesmen well worth a listen. And Peter Small i dont how you critisise them of copying the libertines there material is 100% orginial, and former libertine Peter Doherty took the boys on the Frog Tour to suppert babyshambles, he did alot to advertise the band and said "The View & The Holloways are bth ewaully cracking bands and are definatly going to be the next big thing in music and the view have signed with 1965 records who are the guys that got us started when i was in the libs so thats sign of things to come." Great Band Cracking Tunes

This is one of the best songs of the year.If you get the chance to see these guys live do so they are special and they don`t take themselves seriously. The album is due out early next year , look out for a track called Skag Trendy . WOW.
