NME have been praising this Dundee four-piece for quite a while now and so, on a whim, I bought this, their first single and it is absolutely fantastic! Some bands do not live up to the hype however in this case, the hype has not lived up to the band!
The title track is a bouncy sing-a-long, full of youthful exuberance and even a slight hint of melancholly. The accompanying track, 'Posh Boys', is a more raucous event, delivered with more fire and urgency than the one before. Track three is a live recording of Comin' Down (which first appeared on their debut EP) and is more like the track that preceeds it than 'Wasted Little DJs'; it's heart seems to belong more to 70s punk than 60s pop.
If this single is a hint at things to come, then we should all be very excited indeed. With songwriting and performances as strong as this, The View deserve to be huge. It's been said before and I'll say it again:
THE VIEW...
THE VIEW...
THE VIEW ARE ON FIRE!
