This was the Waitresses first LP which opens with their second single "I know what boys like" which is a lighthearted romp in the style of the Go-Go's. However after this things get more rockier/darker and experimental with "Jimmy tomorrow". Most of the vocals are handled by Patty Donahue but Chis Butler does get a look in occasionally, particularly on "wise up". Patty had a fine voice and coupled with some excellent sax playing from Mars Williams the album has a two-tone feel at times especially on "It's my car" when they sound a lot like Madness. I prefer it when they rock out e.g on "heat night" and think they could have done with losing some of the funkier guitar elements e.g on "quit" but overall an enjoyable album. Sadly, i think Patty passed away in 1996 but i may be wrong?

On a whim I looked up the waitresses, and lo and behold this popped up! Not having a record player I never heard all the songs from this album, so I was delighted to see this available for download.

A great album from a wonderfully original group! Interesting lyrics, quirky music (cept i could do without the wacky sax, but that's just me) and the incomparable sing talk style of the irrepressible Patty Donahue (R.I.P).

Do yourself a favor, Download and enjoy!

Let us all hope that WASN'T TOMORROW WONDERFUL doesn't disappear from the airwaves. If anyone enjoys 1980's pop with a chuckle, this is something to listen to. And if you are, or were, a square peg, then you really should hear QUIT, or IT'S MY CAR, or WASN'T TOMORROW WONDERFUL!I have heard plenty that gags me with a spoon, and this isn't it.
