5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Guide " Don't leave home without it", 9 Sep 2009
Contrary to the other review to this book, I found this book excellent and invaluable. In fact I would go as far as to say don't go to the Pacific North west without it. This book is very comprehensive and covers all aspects of the Pacific North West, including getting from Seattle to Port Angles and Forks (Twilight destinations) cheaply without being ripped off by tour companies. I used this book extensively for travelling from Seattle, through the Olympic Peninsula, to Port Angeles, The Olympic Coastal strip, Victoria, Vancouver Island, the Inside Passage, and Vancouver. This book really is excellent and I would highly recommend it. I would recommend disregarding the other review of this book giving a rating of just 1 star. Don't leave home without it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not good enough, 19 Aug 2009
I bought this book prior to a holiday in Seattle and Vancouver (the book purports to cover Vancouver and Vancouver Island in the inside jacket). Many of the things I needed were lacking or incorrect. Representative examples: 1. There is no mention of Alert Bay on Vancouver Island, a great place to visit for a day as it is an ancient First Nations community and very moving. 2. The Killer Whale Cafe in Telegraph Cove was praised highly, but in reality was a horrible, over-priced tourist trap of the worst kind. 3. Several of the telephone numbers of restaurants in Vancouver were wrong. 4. No mention was made of the truly awful, dangerous Hastings Street area of Vancouver which is no more than a block or two from highly-praised Gastown. I realise the appalling drug addict problem in central Vancouver is not Lonely Planet's problem, but some guidance would have been helpful.
Isn't that the point of a guide?

All in all, a complete waste of (a not inconsiderable) amount of money.
