4.0 out of 5 stars helpfull as always 19 Aug 2011

as always LP is helpful and well worth the money. maps are good, highlights are useful and great suggestions(food, drinks, hikes...)! it gets you excited about heading out to the pacific northwest as well...
the only negatives are (off the top of my head) the prices for accommodation, you'd be much better off booking through a discount site on the internet, with the exception of camping or staying in hostels... the only other thing (just personally) is i'd like more pictures. photographers send in thousands of pic's constantly hoping to get into the lonely planet (without pay!). that's it though...
anyway, it's well worth the money...

4.0 out of 5 stars Up to date 14 Aug 2012

One of the newly published Lonely planet books (2011). I really like Lonely Planet and I find they have all the essentials included. we often follow their must do/must try recommendations and have so far not had ay real disappointments from this book. we have travelled from Yellowstone out to Eugene and up by the coast to Seattle. A lot of the things in the mountains are marked as not 'open' during May to Nov, we however found that even in the beginning of July a number of the things were still not possible to do, due to snow... For example hiking in the Willamettte to the Green lakes was not possible, even though it was 30 degrees the snow was way to deep, and the trails were not marked.
