It's about the oppressed office worker, seething inside. It uses a lot of visual tricks but without developing a distinctive style. Almost everything in it reminded me of other films: "Stalking Laura", "Fight Club", "Falling Down", "Arlington Road", "The Assassination of Richard Nixon", "The Hudsucker Proxy" - it even stole the tumbling rolled-up newspaper from "Blood Simple".

It's interesting enough, occasionally clever and surprising, and doesn't outstay its welcome, but ultimately it has nothing to say that hasn't been said many times before, and better.

Watched on a long haul flight, missed the last two minutes. Now I must buy it. That's an approval in my books. Great movie, credible if scary characters, soundtrack a bit muffled, but that could have been the jets!

The movie itself is good and worth checking out if you're a Christian Slater fan or simply like surreal stories. However this edition DOES NOT contain the alternative endings, which were filmed as well. A bit of a pity.

Bob Maconel (Christian Slater) is the ultimate outsider; he has no friends and hates everyone, except for his secret crush, Vanessa (Elisha Cuthbert), but she doesn't know he's alive. The only one who talks to him (besides his goldfish) is the office bully who makes his life miserable. A man who is just as crazy as Bob suddenly starts mowing down his co-workers, including the lovely Vanessa, but then Bob takes action.

I loved this movie. It was sad, funny, and unique. Christian Slater is virtually unrecognizable as the meek, middle-aged pencil-pusher whose fantasy life is the only life he has. Kudos to him for taking on a really complex and mature character. Elisha Cuthbert gives a fine performance as the unattainable office beauty who loves life more than she ever could have imagined. The movie goes beyond the typical alienated-man-against-the-world story and is quite really remarkable in its sensitivity and raw emotion. This is an unusual movie and an unforgettable one, and may cause you to look twice at that quiet guy in the corner cubicle. Highly recommended.

is pretty f*&^* uped, reminds me of vanilla sky and enternal sunshine on the spotless mind enternal sunhine of the spotless mind, you like those movies, you going to kinda like this, and forget about the front cover, it is no way as serious but more sereal then that, over and out.

BIt of a mixed bag; not sure what is going on at the end; so that's a little disappointing. It shows promise throughout; the promise fails to deliver.

A worker, overlooked and treated badly by his bosses.. he dreams of shooting his work colleagues (who have done him down) and one day; another worker stands up and shoots some people.. slater; shoots him.. it's not Rambo; just circumstance that makes him a 'hero' on one sense.. a pretty and adored work colleague is disabled, rather severely. Slater helps her.

How the storyline ever got accepted as a movie is curious; that said; if you stick with it; then there are some 'moments' however I am not sure those moments make the film watchable. It is all rather uncomfortable; you will either applaud it for being 'brave' madness; or condemn it for what it is. Not a movie I will remember for long or for much.

His character; is troubled; and seething and hearing voices; and he is not helping himself; he is not addressing his own issues and doing something 'constructive' ; he is stuck in a rut and carries on; like a lot of people do; to their own happiness..

So good to see Christian Slater in a good role again. Frank Capello's film is funny and disturbing in equal measures. Probably not to everyones taste (particularly the ending), but the beauty of He Was A Quiet Man is it's continuous surprises, never following down the route the viewer is used to in a standard Hollywood flick. Great support from Elisha Cuthbert and William H Macy. This is a fine example of a film that didn't set out to tick all the boxes, but instead set out to tell an interesting story.

Christian Slater is excellent as the office drone Bob Maconel in this curious black comedy about a man going 'postal' as it has become known. William Macey has fun as his boss and Elisha Cuthbert gives a sensitive performance as the office beauty suddenly crippled by the tragic events of the story. Star of this movie though is Bob's talking goldfish encouraging him to murder all his workmates then feed him. This is a black comedy but not obviously so and there were times when I was about to give up on it when something else would happen that sparked my interest and kept me watching. This film has invoked a lot of discussion on IMDB as to its true meaning so I won't spoil it for you here. Suffice it to say the ending left a lot of viewers wondering. The dvd is presented in full screen format with an adequate audio track.
