For the past few years I've fallen into a comfortable groove with this annual offering. Around the end of the year I put it in my wish list, wait for it to show up in my Gold Box, preorder, and then wait about 6 months until the book is released. And every year it delivers the goods.
This year we have 11 articles along with the regular features Warship Notes, Naval Books of the Year, and Warship Gallery. Of the articles, three were of special interest to me, two because they supplement books I've enjoyed by the authors. "The Croiser de Bataille de 37 000 tonnes" by Jordan will please anyone who enjoyed his fantastic "French Battleships 1922-1956". Similarly, McLaughlin's "Russia's First Ironclads" leads me to hope that a "prequel" of sorts is in the works to his "Russian and Soviet Battleships". Conrad Waters series on current warships continues with "Modern Amphibious Assault Ships". This series is quickly becoming a favorite.
The book reviews are always my favorite feature. Again a few titles of interest that I had not previously have heard were reviewed.
As always warship enthusiasts will love this book. I recommend all volumes of this annual very highly.
