Warriors: Into The Wild is the best book I've read in ages. It's really exciting… Even better than Brian Jaques’ Redwall. I can't wait for the next one!

John Wood (age 12)

Warriors: Fire and Ice. Characters remain true to their feline natures, adding to the plausibility of events in this tension-filled story. Readers will be happy to learn that another episode is in the works. Booklist

A Kid's Review
Format:Paperback
This book is certainly one of the best books in the series yet! The suspense starts to build up from the very first page right until the end. Once again, ThunderClan will continue to keep you reading for hours on end, and you won't be able to put the book down at all! It is full of treachery, love and disaster just like the previous books.

There is a new danger in the forest for the poor, long suffering clan cats to face. 'Pack Pack' Kill Kill'says the message from StarClan. Danger is EVERYWHERE and no cat is safe! This title is an immensley thrilling installment in the first series and the death scenes are heart breaking and not to mention the deaths of the some cats could have been avoided. Bluestar, Thunderclan's leader is suffering a nervous breakdown and a total loss of faith in StarClan and I can't blame her. She sees every cat in her clan as a traitor and has lost total respect for the Warrior Code. Poor Fireheart is struggling to do the right thing for his clan and also has the difficult task of hiding Bluestar's loss of judgement and illness from all the other cats. He faces a terrible decision at one point in the book which means he has to go behind Bluestar's back for the good of the clan.

This fifth book builds an almost unbearalbe level of tension and it really makes you want to read book six where Fireheart's destiny is revealved as per the prophecy 'Fire alone can save the clan'! I have read many books in my life (and I am not a young reader I am 38) but these Warrior Cat books have been the most entertaining, page turning books I have ever read and they never feel a chore to read like some. It is almost impossible to read just one chapter, or a few pages because of the suspense of the plot! These Erins sure know how to write! I do think there are too many grizzly deaths and I keep thinking 'if any more cats die there will be four empty clan homes with no cats in them!', but it's what builds tension and creates emotion. Because I love cats I have a lot of empathy for the characters, much more so than with 'people' books and it's one of the reasons why I find them quite upsetting at times - they are meant to be. You will notice that these Warrior books get consistantly high ratings and it's because they are very gripping to read. There is not one page of any book that has been dull so far! But don't worry, they are not real, even though the characters seem to come to life in the pages.

I really do love cats and I am often amazed at the lack of empathy some humans seem to have for animals. There is a colony of feral cats that live in the gardens that back onto the estate in which I live, and our neighbour goes outside, twice a day come rain or shine and feeds them - because she cares. I once told somebody about the feral cats in our back garden and I was just about to say 'and we don't mind because we love cats and I sometimes put catnip out or some treats for them' when the person I told piped up 'Ohh, you should put mustard down!'

Put MUSTARD down! She was my boss at the time so I couldn't really tear a strip off her but it just goes to show the lack of compassion some people have for animals. My ex-boss viewed cats as vermin and she wouldn't think twice about putting posion down if there were stray cats in her precious back garden. It is lack of compassion that is killing our planet. Animals have a right to life too and they deserve to be treated as living beings, not just food on legs or pests to be destroyed or potential clothes for us to wear nor should they be hunted for sport. I can tolerate the killing of animals for food as it is nature and the food chain - animals kill animals to survive, but not for greedy purposes or for sport. The clan cats respect their prey and they have to hunt to survive - but they don't kill for sport and they even bury the remains as a mark of respect. If humans could think a tiny little bit along these lines, the world would be a much better place to live for every being - be them human or otherwise. Instead there are so many people on the planet greedily multiplying and sucking up resources I am surpised it doesn't fall out of space and the seas are over-fished due to greed and the eco-system is collapsing also because of greed and people keep on having more and more children they can't even support. Anyway, that's my rant for the day and no, I don't have kids. I am a member of the Voluntary Human Extinction Movement.
