I have seen Barry Gibbons twice as a key-note speaker at corporate business events and on both occasions he has been brilliant. It is true that the lad from Blackburn knows his stuff, and makes it accesible to all. No corporate psychobabble here.
This book is just like the man in real life - a really funny but insightful message as to what has gone wrong and how to use that knowledge to benefit your own business. The main message I suppose is "don't be daft but take sensible, calculated risks. Never forget you are a customer so how do your customers feel about your business".
The Enron story was brilliantly told with some funny insights and additions. Trust, or delegation as Gibbons likes to call it (as opposed to empowerment, a new-age term he says) is a key thing that companies must have now in the age of the brand and frighteningly quick change.
A great read that I actually read in one sitting as it was just too funny and interesting to put down. Go on, treat yourself and then buy his other books as well.
