Book Description

15 Oct 1998
Warner Bros has opened up its archives for official researchers to trace the history of its most famous characters, including Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Taz, Sylvester, Tweety Pie, Porky Pig and Yosemite Sam, as well as detailing more contemporary creations such as the animated Batman, Tiny Toons and Animaniacs. This text traces the history of the characters and the men who created them, telling the story of Warner Bros, how the animation unit was established and how it grew. The book also presents photographs of the animators and technicians at work in the studio as well as reproductions of original animation cells and the limited edition prints.

4.0 out of 5 stars A visual treat! 26 Sep 2001
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
I take on board the other comments. Don't expect a heavy read. The character descriptions run to two pages max, but visually this one of the most beautiful books I've ever seen.

The binding, paper, and quality of the prints are stunning. A real "coffee table" book, that you will pick up just to see your favourite characters staring back at you.

It's not a research book, but what the hey, beautiful eye candy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Remember all those great cartoons? 22 Jan 2001
By David
Format:Hardcover
Do you remember all those great cartoons from when you were a kid? Might not be too long a go if you're like me but this is a reminder of all the great things that Warner Bros have given us in the world of animation.

When you say cartoon what do you think of? Bet it's more likely to be Bugs Bunny, Road Runner or Daffy Duck than the worlds favourite mouse. This could be my opinion but this is a really well designed book and I'd reccomend it to anyone.

My only complaint anyone who really loves the Warner Brothers, and sister too... (The Animaniacs) will find the section on them a bit thin.

1.0 out of 5 stars If you love animation DONT BUY THIS BOOK 23 Nov 1998
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
The authors of this book are more interested in selling you Limited edetions than actually telling you about animation itself. It's as if the book was rushed to press at the expense of both spelling and factual information. It's more of an advert than an informative read. My advice...buy a different animation book, there are plenty out there.
