1.0 out of 5 stars NOT for blues guitarists 2 April 2011
By FREDERICK DEFRAEYE - Published on Amazon.com
I will start by saying that this book is very neatly laid out. Everything is explained clearly and the recorded examples are of excellent quality.
However, I have to say that as a blues guitarist looking to improve my technique with exercises (and do so warming up in the process) i have not found even one exercise that has helped me to do so. The only thing you find in this book are page-long scale exercises that are of no interest to a blues guitarist.
The solos are pure melodic rock and have nothing to do with blues music (i.e. not the amount of notes is important, but the quality of the notes and 'breathing space').
There is not even any information about which picking technique to use; which is essential information if you wish to master these solos or play the suggested scale exercises at a certain speed.

I feel that the subtitle 'for the Blues/... guitarist' is simply misleading. There are not even exercises involving the minor pentatonic or blues scales?!

I'm sure rock guitarists will find this book an interesting tool, but blues guitarists (that like to keep the soul in their blues), steer clear!
