Product Description

Rod Gallowglass is a man of science who does not believe in magic. ** Gramarye is a world of witches and warlocks. Of strange abilities and phenomena. A world where society mirrors Earth's own Middle Ages, and a world headed for doom. **

Rod Gallowglass must become a part of the local fabric to save the world from both itself and external forces that threaten its existence. But to do so, he must put aside his own convictions and beliefs, and become a warlock, in spite of himself. **

A grand adventure mixing science fi ction with elements of fantasy, this is the book that launched a whole series (fourteen books and counting).

I am new to Amazon, and delighted to find this book exists. I had a copy in the late 1970's which I lost, then when I tried to replace it, not only could I not find it anywhere but no-one had heard of book or author. I began to think I had imagined it. It is reassuring to find it is real although it appears to be a recent publication. Is it a re-issue? Furthermore I also read a follow up book whose name I can't remember (something like "KOBOLD"?) but the plot doesn't sound like any of the author's books described here!?!

Don't buy the Kindle verison. Why? Because I first read this, funny and enjoyable book about 20 years ago, liked it. Over the years though, I lost the book, so was pleased to see it available on Kindle, bit cross at the price, but thought why not, as an Xmas pressie to self. The problem is that there is at least one whole section missing - there could be more, my memory is perfect, but I am sure about the missing section. So it's a lot to pay for a story that's missing a bit.
It's not a totally bad, the story still works, still holds its plot and is still jolly good fun, but if your paying attention you'll have a moment of, "what's happened there then".

I love this book. I could not put it down once I started reading. I read this when I was in High School. And I wrote a paper on "Rod Gallowglass", the hero in the book, which actually won me a scholarship to college. It combines Sci-fi and fantasy in a semi-medieval planet. This is light entertainment and a good book to introduce someone into the world of Sci-fi/fantasy.
