Finally this classic fantasy/horror movie is available in the UK on DVD in its uncut form, rerated 12 by the BBFC.
Calling it an "extended version" is a bit misleading though, I also own the US print of this fantastic movie and the newly released Brit version is exactly the same (runtime-wise).
This UK version is in WIDESCREEN - which makes it better than the US print which is in fullscreen. Unfortunately there's no blu-ray release.

I always loved this movie, which features excellent performances by Julian Sands and Richard Grant (in the best role of his career) and surprisingly little gore (especially when compared to its inferior sequals). The SFX were astounding at the time (completed in 1988).

NOTE: the notorious "Channeler scene" from the original theatrical trailer is NOT included in this print - it is the original R rated US version.

There are NO extras on this DVD.

No warlock is not gonna win any oscars. No it's no the most up-to-date action horror out there but if all you want is to be entertained with some good action and a little tongue in cheek horror humour from the brilliant Richard E Grant, then watch Warlock. Julian Sands makes a good job of being loathsome and evil and the films got a pretty decent plot (it was the 80's!!!) Give it a chance it really is pretty good and don't listen to the other over opinionated, pretentious nay sayers who dont know what there talking about.

this film is one of my favourite fantasy horror films, and is to old for a review so see bluray specs below;

Picture Quality 8/10 (the resolution is alot higher than I've ever seen with great colour and clarity)

Sound Quality 5/10 (Although it's had a DTS HD remaster it's still only in 'english DTS HD MASTER 2.0 be warned there's NO 5.1 or 7.1) so if you've got a full HD ampilfier it can be up-scaled from stereo to DTS NEO 6 CINEMA 7.0, otherwise you'll have to just listen to it in stereo.

If you're a fan of this film, it's worth the up grade....

Fun horror movie ~ well worth the Blu Ray upgrade
Some people hate this movie for its B-Grade qualities. Ok it's no Citizen Kane but, for me, it's an excellent 'feel-good' horror movie (ie more fun than scary). Read more

Rooted firmly in the late 1980s - by virtue of the hairstyles, clothing, makeup and general attitudes, this second-rate fantasy movie is deservedly forgotten by most. Read more
