Product Description

"For thousands of years after the collapse of the polar gates, with the immediate threat of Chaos thwarted, the Lizardmen existed in relative seclusion while the world changed around them." -Warhammer: Lizardmen The world of Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game has changed. Countless wars have scarred its lands. Torrents of blood have soaked its battlefields. No one is safe. No race can sit safely outside its ongoing battles. In the end, there is only war; there is no neutrality. Hidden Kingdoms is the game`s fifth deluxe expansion. Its 172 cards include four capital cards and the maximum legal number of fifty-five different player cards that bring the game's four biggest neutral races to life as fully developed, playable factions! Players at last gain the opportunity to play as Lizardmen, Wood Elves, Skaven, and Undead. Hidden Kingdoms fleshes out these four new factions with their own capitals and legends, as well as a host of new units and supports, including several that are faction-specific. Meanwhile, fans of the game's other races will find additional support for their favorite factions, including new units, tactics, and Tributes, which allow the factions to forge temporary alliances and ignore the loyalty costs for out-of-faction cards.

This is the latest and, apparently, the last expansion to Fantasy Flight's card game Warhammer Invasion. As is usual with the deluxe expansions this contains 3 copies of approx 50 new cards. The main thrust of this expansion is to allow races that have previously been used as allies to have armies in their own right. The races in question are Lizardmen and Wood Elves for order and Skaven and Undead for destruction. There are also a couple of cards each for the 6 other established races. As a bonus there is a card, usable by any race, designed by the FFG Warhammer Invasion world champion. From a few plays the cards seem well balanced with no obvious flaws or confusion in their wording. One note of caution - there aren't really enough cards per race in this set to make for much replayability of the new armies, you will need the cards from previous expansions (eg March of the Damned for Undead and Lizardmen, the Corruption cycle for Skaven etc) to get the most out of this set. The cards are up to the usual production standard of FFG and should stand up well to repeat play although heavy users may wish to use card sleeves. One disappointment is that the new races have capital cards rather than the capital boards used previously. This does not hinder play but makes for a less pleasing visual focus to the playing area. It also caused me a moments panic on opening the box as I had thought there would be capital boards and that the box I had received was missing components - my mistake for not reading the component list correctly. In summary, this is an excellent addition to the range and is a suitable swan song for what has been a very well supported game line
