Ths 2nd book is even closer to the James Bond novels of Ian Fleming than the 1st. The plot could easily serve for 007 as the villainous Rasputin threatens to blow up dumped nerve gas cannisters.
Attar is sent to disarm the bomb & track down the blackmailer, with new allies Victor (his Felix Leiter)& Grampus ( a killer whale brought up by dolphins adn as telepathic as they were in Attar's Revenge).
The writing is still very pulpy but stronger than Attar's Revenge. The plot moves along at a good pace & the description is good. Sadly we learn nothing new about Attar and at times, he's just serving the plot e.g. while he remembers the sad loss of Lily the dolphin from mission 1, he doesn't spare that level of thought for his dead lover Essence.
There's a recap for those who never read the 1st one and it was left open for more.
The resolution's plus final showdown's a bit too quick and almost seems edited, otherwise a fun read.
