I found out about this remix ablum through DJ Keltech's website, where there is an amusing video of an alien scratch mixing the Eve of the War. Having listened to the CD a number of times the majority of remixes are very good and creative, while preserving some of the original Jeff Wayne material. However some of the more Euro-Trance style remixes sound a little cheap and are not inspiring, whereas the more ambient mixes are atmospheric and lush sounding (and it's always good to hear the renaissance of the Vocoder).

If you are a fan of the Jeff Wayne original, this certainly makes interesting listening - but don't expect the plot!

For those of you who are fans of the artists featured on the album and enjoy something a bit different it's a good listen - though it's not really a Club Dance Remix.

The first "UlladubUlla" 2CD remix album was released around 1999, and this 'sequel' is really a re-packaged selected highlights from that original remix album with only a couple of new remixes, by Tom Middleton and Zube, thrown in.

I'm a fan of the Jeff Wayne's original "War Of The Worlds" musical, but also a fan of remixes- something which Jeff Wayne himself isn't, apparently, and it's his record label rather than him personally that commissions and endorses these remix albums. That's a shame, as musically this remix album is very respectful- most of the mixes are done by talented musicians who manage to respect and enhance the original songs and bring new twists and turns to them, putting songs in different contexts.

H.G. Well's plot is thrown out of the window so listening to this album will not tell you the story of "War Of The Worlds". However, for fans of the original album, who are open-minded enough not to start shaking at the mention of the word "remix", this is a good listen. I think you'd have to listen to the original album first for this remix album to make any sense and to appreciate that there's some quality stuff on here. And one or two duff notes but you can't win them all.

War of the Worlds: ULLAdubULLA II - The Remix Album From the opening spoken words of this new remix War of the Worlds album it feels like an interesting updated/retelling of the story (but not in the same way as the remake movie, which was quite frankly rubbish compared to the original film). However when the second track kicks in I found myself pulling faces in disbelieve. Some R & B/hip hop artist called Zube has got hold of it and done the usual poor retelling of the story through the media of rap and it is awful. Why do these so called 'cool' people insist of messing up what was a great musical experience. Things get better with the following tracks as it goes back to the same style as the opener. The Red Weed still manages to create the eerie sense of wonder and mystery like the original but with a modern slant with a club chill-out style about it. Other slower tracks follow suite but the more upbeat tracks have a dance feel about them which could work well in a club as a way of introducing the classic musical to a new modern audience. I would recommend this album to anyone who loves the classic but wants to hear it with an club feel. However I strongly suggest you avoid track 2 and track 17 as Zube, for some reason, has been given another chance to do his thing at the end of the album and hasn't done any better than his first outing. If his tracks were removed my rating of this album would have been 4 stars instead of the 3 I have given it. Overall a good effort for new listeners but the original will always be the best.

OK for a dance club.
I have only listened to the preview tracks but that was enough for me. Quite frankly these guys have crucified Jeff Waynes classic. Some may like it but to me this is pants. Read more

Very poor
Loses all the story-telling strength of the original.
Basically it's a hotch-potch of unconnected not very good or memorable songs.

This album is incredible. I'm a long time fan of the original and know that Jeff Wayne's music is always going to thrill, but some of these new tracks exceed expectations. Read more
