I couldn't put this book down. It describes how a newly formed platoon is brought up sharply within hours of its arrival to the realities of war. Mcnab as usual manages to hold his reader by describing not only the hard experiences and sadness they and their sergeant suffer but also the lighter moments... not that there are many. Meanwhile back home it is equally traumatic for their wives and families and by the end of the book I found was living their lives and sharing their sadness with them. On a slightly lighter note I couldn't help but smile at the description of the S.A.S, flip flops, billy cans and beachcomer shirts, sent into kill surely not.Anyway good book. Not sure what Kym Jordon contributed but I would recommend it as a good read.
