First: if you have not seen the paly 'War Horse', stop reading and go out to buy your ticket now. Believe the hype. The production will blow you away. Admittedly I was a little reluctant to go see it myself, I'm not a big 'Black Beauty' fan, but I must say this show is just amazing. The movie version is such a different experience you should really regard them as only slightly related. And that brings us to the score, which the film doesn't use, replacing it by an equally brilliant John Williams soundtrack.
The music is very fitting for what you get to see on stage and you'll never hear a more heartwrenching rendition of 'the year turns 'round again'.

The show lives on in with this recording. Excellent quality of sound and a lovely keepsake.
The folk songs are beautiful, lovely harmonies and so poignant.
Highly recommended.

Amazon Verified Purchase
We went to see the Theatre production of War Horse and were so enthralled with the 'puppetry' that we paid little attention to the music. Having purchased this CD I can now put the two things together in my mind and they are both equally as incredible. This CD is different to anything else in my collection but I am now flogging it to death. Absolutely wonderful.

I have seen the play in london at the National Theatre and this brings it to life again I hope they make a dvd of the play
