Great book (mine), but the dust cover picture is not the one produced by the publisher. I have tried many times (as has the publisher) to have the picture changed to the correct one, but with no success. That's Amazon....

Format: Hardcover
This is an excellent analysis of Pakistan army and its role in the country. However it doesn't make justice with its title. The book sounds like listening to a Pakistani Army general. I was expecting to understand the secret behind the support for terrorism in Pakistan Army however this line of analysis is not present in this book. It only place blame on Coalition forces and American war on terror as the root cause of all the troubles in the area. The book starts in a positive way and displays the lack of nationhood in Pakistan where there are immense differences between people of different ethnicities and this has resulted in failing to mould these people into a single nation. After the fall of Bangladesh there is a paranoia in Pakistan army of loosing Baluchistan as another independent state and the Pashton areas to Afghanistan. Pashtons on both side of the border doesn't recognise the border between the two countries. This paranoia has resulted in Pakistan army harbouring terrorists and using them to destabilise Afghanistan and create problems for India in Kashmir. This is an important fact on the ground and by ignoring this important aspect of the issue the author has discarded any such analysis from the whole issue, resulting in a confusing situation.

An intelligent and inciteful review of events in an area where few of us, I would guess, would be particularly well informed on.
