RECOMMENDED FOR GARAGE ROCK ENTHUSIASTS,
By A Customer
This review is from: Wants a Piece of You (Audio CD)
There are many Garage band compilations on the market, but there are very few devoted to female groups. This is one of them. SHE were from California , and this compilation features a whole gamut of different styles, both 'softer' items and more typical Garage Rock, and it is really worth listening to.This compilation also features recordings by their earlier incarnation as THE HAIREM.If you are a fan of PEBBLES, NUGGETS, BACK FROM THE GRAVE, etc or are an enthusiast for 60's GARAGE ROCK then this is recommended.

She Wants A Piece of You - and she gets it with sheer force!,
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Wants a Piece of You (Audio CD)
Like Michigan's The Luv'd Ones, She toiled largely unnoticed by the mainstream press in the late 60s. Unlike the Luv'd Ones, She were pretty uniformly ferocious, and clearly listened to a lot of stuff like the Stones, as well as garage rock (and also had an organist). Whether it be the outrageously sexual 'Outta Reach' or the cynical, tough 'Piece of You' (or even the relatively gentle 'Braids of Hair' and the fairly sappy 'Boy Little Boy', the latter of which was a sadly misguided attempt to soften their image), this was a grrrl-band with a nasty attitude and (eventually) chops to match.
